Ivory Horse With Silver Collar On Split Wood Shaft (9166)
Here's a beautiful American ivory horse with with silver halter, and handblown glass eyes. The sterling collar under the handle has two releif horses, one of the nicest collars I've ever seen on a horse handle. The only problem is, it's upside down. The shaft is made from two different kinds of wood, 1/2 oak and 1/2 cherry, another indication its American, along with an original bimetal American ferrule. Becaise the collar is upside down it tapers out and the antique shaft fits the collar, it all looks original, but it looks home made instead of professionally done. No professional would have put a cane together like this. I choose to leave it like this for 30 years, because its part of the history of the piece. The handle has the value, but this shaft has character, but if you want a different collar and shaft, I have the perfect antique one and you will never know it's not original. Except I'll tell every one but you.
