Enamel Picture Frame With Photo (9137)
The enamel work is different from any other one I have ever seen. It's champleve, there are wire walls around cells like cloisonne, but unlike cloisonne who's cells are soldiered into place, they are a part of the background that holds the enamel. There is no engineturning on this type of work, the enamel is opaque. This is a european style not oriental, who also did this kind of work. The style is art noveau. The silver work is heavy repose unlike the presentation cane handles. A number of companies made this type of work, including American companies. circa 1890
