Tin Makers Torch And Example Of His fine Work (9059)

The entire shaft is a fuel tank, with the torch in the bottom part of the handle. The lid is removable and there are about a dozen card shapes. Whats interesting to me is that they are l" deep. I can't think of one purpose for them except to show a perspective client how good his work was. In larger sizes they could be cookie molds, but these are only about 3/4". Tin was used prolifically about 1870, which is when I think this one was made. There is not one new soldier joint or repair, its all old and It would have taken a lot of work to have made this. The alcohol burner was used to melt lead soldier for use in his craft.
