Ebony Tiger (9001)

This is in the rarity catagory of 4. You see a lot more carved ivory tigers than wood ones, because ivory is much easier to carve than ebony. To carve ebony it takes a hammer chisel and a lot more time than almost any other material, except stone. These were popular in the 1880's. I have only had one ebony figural handle in my collection, a lion. This one was priced at $950, about the same price as an ivory one.
