 Box Wood Carving (8865)
Just and exceptionly carved victorian handle, with an interesting man animal combination. This canes provenance is the Marshall Fredricks collection. A famous Michigan Artist, who had a great cane collecton before there were many collectors, and there was very little written on the subject. I think collectors today have it a lot easier to collect what is good because they see the range of what is available. When he started out, like myself, you didn't have any idea what it was worth, because you had never seen another. Most of the things I bought were cheap according to todays values, but they were still expensive. Quality has always come with a price. My biggest mistake was not buying the better decoritive canes. On the other hand, I liked gadgets better, so I put what I did have in them. Some have done well others haven't. Such is the field of investing. I still like them, irrespective of money.
