Brittish Poachers Gun With Stock And Scope (8746)
This English Gun cane is very well made and works really well, it is the only gun cane I have seen with a safety. The quality of the metal makes it the heaviest I have seen. The handle and stock are walnut and match well. The scope is easily removed without tools as is the stock. The scope is definitely not factory, but it is contemporary to the piece and works perfectly. Most scopes won't work on gun canes because of how far away they need to be to fit the eye behind the stock on a gun cane. More modern shorter scopes would be too far away for the eye to even see the crosshairs, let alone any thing close up. I think it only adds the value of the scope to the gun, a couple of hundred dollars. It looks 1910 to 1920, not only because of the mechanism, but because of the factory original painted finish, to keep it from rusting. It is the only one I have seen with this type of finish, and it is really the only thing I don't like about it. I would like it better if it had a finish you would expect on a gun, yet this can’t be touched, it’s not the way it was made
