This definition for umbrella thats never been used before is; Umbrella used as a gun cane. There is nothing in history to suggest that canes were to be left home in the rain. They carried umbrellas as their canes. Historically umbrella have been considered less desireable than canes. I believe the reason has been, the material rots on umbrella and doesn't look authanticlly original. I believe the only way to make umbrella as desireable or more desireable than canes is to restore the cloth as I have done with this rare working umbrella cane.
