There Is No Such Thing As A Paperweight Cane (8577)
The name of the person who owned it and the date it was made, 1934, is in the center of this custom made paperweight. I was in France this week talking to Laurence Janzten of Paris, and she tells me there is no such thing as a paperweight cane. I was surprised to hear that as there were no red flags, as far as I was concerned, as to how this cane was made. If I were you, I would listen to her, not because this cane is authentic or not {she only saw the picture}, but because, with all her experience she has good senses. After hearing her, I'll never buy another paperweight cane again. The point is this, you can't have a good collection without talking to experts about what is good and what is bad. I learned a lot from talking to her this week. I learned that during the age of canes, France made 8000 canes a day. That she feels, France was the best gadget cane maker in the world. I also believe you can't have a good cane collection without going to the great cane shops of Europe and learn what they have to teach us. I saw incredable canes and umbrellas.
