Sterling Vanity Stick (8453)
From the lettering of the monogram on the top of the handle, the cane is from the 20th century, circa 1910 to 1920. The handle and shaft are original as is the shaving brush and razor, they all obviously match. You can see the same lines on the outside of the handle that are on the shaving brush. There is even a place for the shaving soap in the top section of the handle. The sterling glove stretcher, horn tooth brush, and the sterling curling iron do not match the others let alone them selves. They are valuable collectors items by themselves. The curling iron $125, tooth brush $40, and stretcher $2oo. The question is should they be removed from the cane or left with it? They all fit and if you took them out there would be a empty shaft. They are all the same age as the cane, but because no one can be sure if they came with it originally or not, do they distract and reduce the value of the cane as it is? On the other hand, no one can prove they didn't come with this cane as it was a custom made piece, made for a particular persons use. There are no patents, signitures, it's not even marked sterling, although it test sterling. I've left them with it because they came that way, but I wonder if it was made for other things inside.
