Powder Flask And Other Gun Tools (8435)

Although not really a weapon, it is rarer than the guns it loaded and gun canes. The cleverness of this one makes it a personal favorate. The first picture shows it detached from the shaft which also a doubles as a ram rod for a percusion rifle. The ferrules flat shape is used to push a ball down the barrel. I say rifle as opposed to a shotgun because when you screw off the ferrule a screw is revealed, which is used to screw into the lead ball so it can be pulled out of the barrel when the gun misfires. Misfiring was common because rain often made the gun powder wet and unusuable. This was the only way to remove the powder, as there was no way to remove it from the breech end. In the third picture you see the powder flask that was used to
put a charge in the gun. The mechanism in this one allows a set amount of gun powder to enter a chamber with the push of the thumb. By pushing the other lever, the measured amount of powder can then be poured down the barrel. The ball is then ramed down with the cane shaft being held in place by the gun powder. There is also room for caps in the receptical that holds the flask. Nothing else is needed except the gun. The shaft is real ebony and the handle is all nickel plated brass, making it newer than the civil war.
