Periscope (8166)

Societe d' Optique, Bertiot Paris. 5-3810. Is it a cane or a periscope made into a cane. My guess is that its the latter. I do, however, believe it was made into one of the period, WWI or before. I wouldn't know how to research this one, as it must be patiented. The quality of the piece and optics is too good not to be. It has the original black anodized finish. Anodized means to coat with an oxide; to put on with a electrolytic cell. It holds up better than paint in the wheather. It would be a hard finish to duplicate. This one has a two draw telescope below the periscope. It attaches on one end to the ferrile and to the periscope on the other. You can't tell what this even is until disassembly. You have to screw off the handle, which contains a container and compus to use it. A band at the lower end turns to expose the lense. The telescope does not have to be removed to use the telescope. If anybody knows how to research this let me know. It won't make any difference to me as I don't care if it has a part made for another use. See gadget cane philosophy in cane forum.
