 Newspaper Carrier (8936)
French newspaper carrying and holder for reading cane. All nickel plated brass with a black wood handle. Push a knob and turn and the entire length opens to insert a newspaper at the spine. Wrap the newspaper around the shaft and walk on down the street to your favorite spot to read. I have only seen one model of this, and I have never seen one in an auction. I saw one in a high end shop for $2000, which I thought was high. An interesting factory made cane not in Dike.
