Military Cane With Military Swagger Stick Inside (8446)

Not a very pretty cane, but you can tell how much it was loved by how long this one was carried. It has his units insignia on the handle showing how important the army was to him. In side is a swagger stick also with military insignia. Unfortunately not the original one, but still an important combination, as a swagger stick is the only thing that would fit inside. A rare combination. It would give someone something to do,looking for an original swagger stick. The swagger stick was important to the military as there was a time being in the military was considered low class. They used canes to bring up their self esteem by teaching them to carry them under their arms with a swagger of confidence. They also used them to cane, or beat, those soldiers who misbehaved. As time went on these canes shortened and became more ceramonial in their use, making them obsolete. Maybe they were separated by two family members when he passed away.
