2.2" Shaft And A 2.8" Hook Handle (9240)

This is the largest hook handled cane I have seen, all one piece. It has the mans name and a snake wood burned into it, called pyrography. This type of work was a hobby between 1900 and 1910. A metal tip on the bottom of the shaft, but it never had a ferrule. You couldn't put a piece like this in a lathe, so it would have had to have been all hand carved. They did pretty good getting a nice round taper all by hand.
