Doctors Cane With Funnel And Measuring Cup (8459)
This is my third medical cane with a double container for pills, a funnel and measuring cup for mixing medicine from containers in the shaft.
All three are sterling, with one American and two English. This one was hallmarked in London in exactly 1896. All three are gold washed inside and all three have different shafts with different uses. This one is by far the most ornate, vestiges of the Victorian style, and has a very complicated surgical set in the shaft. Who do you know that can drill a perfectly straight hole over l" wide and 29" long. The brass holder for the nickel plated instruments are all of the period and the container has wonderful natural patena. I wish you could see it, as chemicals could never do this. Ill remind you again, get some gun bluing and put it on brass.
