Rock Garden (8398)
There must be a name for these quartz crystal gardens inside this Italian marble handle. The light shows thru the entire handle so you can see the garden thru the lense on top. The shaft is rosewood and the ferrule is horn. You see the worm holes in the ferrule which is more typical of happening in Europe than America, as it definately wasn't made here. The 2 1/2" handle was turned on a lathe, and would have been very difficult to make with such thin walls. Calsite marble is a 2 on the mohs scale the same as ivory. Glass is 5.5, garnets 7, and diamonds 10, gives you an idea how soft it is. You drop it once and its gone.
