3" Carved Stag Horn (8363)

Stag is an easy material to carve, and I'm sure larger ones will come along. What can't be reproduced is the shaft. They were grown in fields by the thousands, scared with a razor and left growing another 2 years to scar over. There are many different patterns of scaring. This one is not a common type. Most are crook handles and are probably the most common canes available today. You can buy as many as you want for $15 to $35. I think it would be a great collection to look for all the different patterns that exist, photograph them and write an article about them in one of our book on member articles. You wouldn't even have to buy them, just take pictures of them at antique shows.
The other thing that has not as of yet been reproduced are his glass eyes. They are blown marquise shape with a little black eyeball in the center. They are so small they would be difficult to make, but if somebody cared enough not impossible. The eyes in anamals are easy, because they are used by taxidermist. Many sizes and colors are available. Yellow and brown are the most common, and as far as I know only come in round. They only cost a few $ a pair. If you need eyes, click contact me, and I'll give you the address.
