Mother Of Pearl That Does It All (8184)

Push button on the top and it hinges open to reveal a compact. Screw compact off and there is a mop inkwell inside. Take that out and there is a mop sander container then mop knife and fork that slide togather. On one side is a ruler that goes from 1 to 7 and is 7.5". It is signed Poucesde-Frances. On the other it goes from1 to 8
and is 7.5" and is signed Pouces Dallema jne. Entire frame is 14k solid gold. Ferrule screws off to reveal hand carved mop pen. Entire shaft is inlaid with mop on walnut. Not much question it was made in France around 1890. Main part of handle is a ocular frame, which would have been an easy part to obtain in a smaller size. This larger size might have had to have been custom made. Then there is the single piece mop top. Think of how large the shell would have to be to produce a flat piece 2.5" diameter, which would have had to have been cut to fit the compact. Bottom line is this would have been a difficult cane to make,
