Cap Cane Amunition (397151)
I love cap gun canes. I dont know if I have every one made, but I have a lot of them. I know a lot of them are in Dike, but I hope someone does a complete work on them someday. What Im showing today is a complete box of cane ammunition. 60 boxes with a picture of the gun cane they were used for on every box. They were a consumed commodity, so few would be left today, compared to the guns they were used in. The purpose of this illustration is this, only 10% of all items made, since the world began, exist today. You are much better off buying antique items that have their value established than new items. In the 70's we had high inflation and everyone went to buying material items as a hedge against inflation. People bought collectors plates by the millions. Today they only bring a fraction of what was paid for them. They say it takes 20 years, a generation, to determine the value of an item. I make my living today selling jewelry and diamonds. I have been a estate jeweler, and antique dealer for almost 40 years. During that time I've sold just about everything you can think of. Some day there might even be a purpose to tell you my best stories about the people I have sold to. You never sell things, you meet needs. I have always been my best customer, they meet a need in me.
What I am about to tell you, will surprise many ,disapoint some, and be known by others. Every day people come into my store to sell their jewelry, and most think they will get a lot more. I explain to them that if they take their jewelry to twenty stores accross America who do what I do, buy used jewelry that 25% is the best they will get. There are always some exceptions, like large diamonds, but not many. New jewelry less than a 1000 is often a triple mark up and over a 1000 is a double markup all the way up. So they can't get half. I tell them that most estate jewelers goal is to get half. People don't usually find this out until they go to sell something. I think people should have realistic expectations about the things they spend their money on. If you pay the correct price for a cane, a antique, an antique piece of jewelry or estate jewelry which means preowned, you will be 25% ahead. You ought to be able to get half. If you sell it to an collector, you may even make money, which is the goal of antiquecaneworld.
